Glendale Police Foundation
The Glendale Police Foundation (GPF) is a non-profit organization with the mission of assisting the Glendale Police Department by providing essential resources and support necessary to foster community-police partnership and superior public safety.
GPF accomplishes this mission by strengthening community relationships with the Police Department, providing funding for youth and community outreach programs, raising funds for critical training and specialized equipment for officers, as well as providing nearly all funding for the K9 Unit.
The Glendale Police Foundation (GPF) is a non-profit organization (501c3) and is endorsed by the Glendale Police Department.
GPF supports to improve police/community relations and awards grants to law enforcement for specialized equipment, training, and collaborative community programs.
We are comprised of local Glendale community members. Ranging from business owners, doctors, attorneys, CEOs, community activists, and other residents just like you. Our meetings are open to the public and we welcome your attendance.
We meet the fourth Wednesday of each month, except for August, at the Glendale Police Department.
GPF funds numerous youth and community outreach programs. Youth programs include Students Training as Role Models (STAR) designed for at risk youth between the ages of 9 and 14, and the Teen and Police Partnership (TAPP) a collaboration between the Glendale Police Department (GPD) and the Glendale Unified School District.
GPF also funds the Explorer program for young people between the ages of 14 and 21 interested in a career in public safety.
We also offer outreach for at-risk members in the community suffering from cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s Disease, Autism, and Down Syndrome, via the Project Lifesaver Program.
GPF fosters the community-police partnership through our annual 10-week adult Community Academy where members of the community learn about all facets of GPD, community policing, and graduate as well-informed ambassadors for the Department.
GPF also provides support and nearly all funding for K9 Unit.
Glendale Police Chief Manuel Cid
Chief Cid was appointed as Glendale’s 20th Police Chief on January 16th, 2023.
Prior to joining the Glendale Police Department, Chief Cid served the Culver City community for nearly 20 years as a member of their Police Department, including as the Department’s Chief of Police from 2020-2022.
Throughout his two-decade law enforcement career, Manny has had the opportunity to work a vast array of assignments, while promoting up the ranks of a full-service police department, including the ranks of Officer, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and finally Chief of Police. Manny’s law enforcement career includes extensive experience in the areas of patrol and enforcement operations, investigations, law enforcement administrations and professional standards, as well as emergency management. Manny has also had the opportunity to work on multiple local, state, and federal taskforces, impacting public safety on a regional level.
Chief Cid holds law enforcement executive leadership positions at the local, county, and state levels, including serving as an Executive Board member for the LA IMPACT Taskforce, as well as on the LA County Police Chief’s Association and the California Police Chief’s Association.
Manny possesses his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Whittier College, as well as his Master’s degree in Public Administration and Organizational Leadership from National University. In addition to his formal education, Manny is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, the West Point Leadership Program, California’s POST Executive Development Course, and the FBI’s National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
During his career, Manny has been the recipient of several law enforcement awards and honors, including the Sustained Superiority Award, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Career Achievement Award. As a Police Chief and a law enforcement leader, Chief Cid brings a collaborative leadership style to leading an organization, a proactive approach to community-centric policing, an unwavering commitment to professionalism, and a focus on fostering and preserving partnerships.
Manny is a first-generation Cuban-American and has spent most of his life living in the greater Los Angeles area. He is a devoted husband to his wife of 14 years, and they have two daughters. In his free time, Manny enjoys working-out, sports, and traveling.
